Family reunions are warm, emotional occasions — especially when you’re tying in birthdays and milestones into a single unforgettable event. This family wanted to truly make it a day to remember by incorporating the 1920s with a Great Gatsby theme.
To pull off their dream, the family needed a classic venue that could be transformed into the 1920s era. After a lengthy venue research and review process in New York City and New Jersey, Allison Sargent Events chose the Yale Club for with its elaborately detailed ceilings and the perfect backdrop for the event.
Guests received custom Gatsby invitations to generate excitement for the event, and on the day of the party, they knew to come dressed in their finest 1920s attire. Party-goers boarded luxury coaches from New Jersey into Manhattan. Tour guides on each bus customized a ‘20s theme tour of the city, transporting guests into a bygone era.
ASE seized many creative opportunities around the Gatsby event theme. For music, who better than an Etta James-style singer to provide entertainment? Guests learned how to swing dance and other signature moves from the era on a rooftop dance floor with 360-degree views of New York City, while enjoying signature 1920s cuisine, cocktails and, of course, plenty of feathers and pearls.
The reunion also featured a photo booth complete with era-appropriate props. After guests had their photo taken, it was printed out and placed into a custom scrapbook where they could write well wishes to the family.
As a parting gift, guests were given customized candy gifts that were designed to look like pearls to match the glam look of the Gatsby theme. All the details tied in seamlessly for a family reunion they’ll always remember.
